I Want To Ride My Bicycle!

So my wonderful husband found a sweet deal on a cruiser bike for me! I have been wanting one of these for a long time, just so I can ride it to work and such. This bike normally costs $399 but we got it for $150! Awesome! Here is a picture of it. I LOVE the color and the accent colors! :)

Moab and 1 Year Anniversary!!!

This year for spring break, some of our friends decided to go to Moab! Since our anniversary is during spring break, we thought we would hang out with our friends, but go do our own thing on our anniversary.

We drove to Moab on Wednesday and ended up leaving a lot later than we had planned. So we found ourselves in a blizzard through Price Canyon and we could hardly see the road. It was really scary! But then it cleared up and we finally reached Moab! We were all really tired when we got there so we went straight to bed.

The next morning it was hard to get up and going considering the weather wasn't all that great and we had been driving so long the night before. But we finally got up and drove to Arches National Park! We decided to just play around at Windows arches for awhile and here are some pictures we took there.

The next day we did the Firey Furnace! This is the best part of the trip but the scariest. The Firey Furnace is made up of a series of fins which are basically tall towers of slick rock that we climb up and down. It's basically a maze! There are no trails so you never know where you're going to end up or how you will get out, but it's lots of fun! Here are some pictures!

The third day we went to visit Corona. This is the arch that is known for repelling and an airplane actually flew through it once! I was way too scared to repell, so me and a few other people just watched the others. The second picture is Josh repelling! He said it was really scary walking up to the arch, but repelling wasn't as scary as the approach. The third picture is silly, but it was really cool because a railroad track went through this area and it looked really neat!

On our anniversary we stayed at a hotel and went to dinner together. Then Josh surprised me with a cake! You know how usually you eat the top of your wedding cake on your first anniversary? Well Josh and I didn't save ours, so he had his mom (who made our wedding cake) make us another little cake for our anniversary! I thought it was really thoughtful and a fun idea! And I just gave Josh a silly coupon book that I made. We had so much fun, and I'm so happy that we got to go and that we made it back safely! Also, I'm so grateful to have the best husband in the whole world and I'm so happy to be married to him for eternity! He is my best friend and I can't imagine life without him. :)

The Blanket Project!

For the first project using my new sewing machine, I attempted an idea I heard about from my friend Natalie for a baby blanket! It was quite a task, and it seemed simple enough, but just turned out to be very time consuming. However, I enjoyed every minute of it! :) I decided to make it for my friend Shannon for her baby shower and completed it in 3 days! I was pretty excited about the whole thing and very impressed with myself considering it was my first try at this. So here is how it turned out!

So you are probably wondering how I made the blanket look this way? Well, I took 4 pieces of fabric (the animal print, and then solids of green, orange, and a light yellow) and had to sew diagnol lines, 1/2 inch apart, over the entire blanket. Then, I took some scissors and cut through the back 3 layers between all of the lines that I had sewn. Last of all, I put a border on it, threw it in the wash and it makes the fabric fray and exposes the different colors. Pretty neat! I will most likely be making more of these because I really enjoyed it! And I will probably continue to experiment as well. ;) I am loving my sewing machine!!!

Be My Valentine!

For Valentine's day, I made breakfast for Josh and I before he had to go to school. I was brave enough to try a new recipe, and it turned out to be pretty tasty! I made monkey bread using Rhode's Rolls (Josh's favorite), some butterscotch pudding mix (just the powder), some pecans, and butter and brown sugar melted together. It was very yummy and Josh loved it!

This is what I got Josh for Valentines day... It's The Book of Mormon for Latter day Saint Families! He has been saying for awhile now that he wants one, and I even had our last name engraved on it. (You can't see it too well in this picture though.)

This doesn't really have to do with Valentine's, but my birthday is coming up this week and this is what my parents gave me. I guess they were too excited, so they gave it to me almost a week early. Ha ha! But now I have my very own sewing machine, cutting board, and cutter! Yay! :)

This is the other Valentine wreath that I made! I think I may even like how it turned out better than the first one I made. I love it!

As for the rest of our day yesterday, Josh came home from school and we made dinner together! It was really fun and it was probably the best pasta and garlic bread I have ever had! Josh is really great at whipping up things by combining spices (most of them I never use when I cook), and using creativity instead of a recipe. We made bowtie pasta, then added chicken with garlic and other spices, sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms, spinach, and some alfrado sauce! Yum! We had a candle light dinner and then just watched some movies! I also made chocolate covered strawberries for dessert! Oh and this is what Josh gave me... Earrings from Lia Sophia!

Nephew

Ok, so I really don't think I'm being bias because this kid is seriously adorable! I can't believe how big my nephew is getting! He is turning into quite the chunker, and is a strong little kid. I had to display some of these cute pictures of him that "Bumpa" ,as he calls himself, has been taking lately of his grandson. :)

I don't know what he's doing in that second picute, but it made me laugh when I saw it! Isn't he the cutest?! :)

And here is a video from Christmas that is also quite adorable. Enjoy!

Crafts!!!

I have really been getting into crafting lately, and this is my most recent project! My friend Natalie from college and I got together and made these heart shaped wreaths for Valentines Day and they turned out so cute! We just got some felt and used the top of a cup to trace circles. Then, we cut them out and folded them in half and then in half again and used straight pins to pin them to a heart shaped, styrafoam wreath!
